Torre de Garci Méndez, also known as the Torre del Homenaje, is a 14th-century Mudéjar fortress in El Carpio, Córdoba province, ordered by nobleman Garci Méndez de Sotomayor and constructed around 1325. This distinctive structure combines Mudéjar and Gothic architectural elements, using mortar and brick construction to create one of Andalusia's most significant examples of medieval military architecture. Originally part of the Sotomayor family's castle complex, the tower forms the historic nucleus around which modern El Carpio developed. Registered as a cultural property of interest since 1983, the tower now serves dual purposes as a cultural landmark and home to the municipal theater in its adjoining cellars.
