Castillo de Lojuela, also known as Castillo de Murchas, is a Muslim-era fortress located on a hillside in the Lecrín Valley near Dúrcal, Granada. Archaeological evidence suggests the castle was built in multiple phases during the 12th to 15th centuries over earlier Roman and prehistoric settlements, reflecting periods of Almohad and Nasrid Granada rule. The fortress features a distinctive polygonal walled compound with a prominent keep and wall, serving the associated alquería settlement of approximately 22 dwellings. The settlement was abandoned following the second Morisco uprising in the late 16th century, leaving behind ruins that preserve an important record of medieval Islamic settlement patterns in southern Granada.
