Castell de Cruïlles dominated the medieval town that served as the seat of the Cruïlles barony in Baix Empordà. Today only its Romanesque tower survives, a remarkable cylindrical structure constructed in the 11th or 12th century. Standing approximately 22.5 meters tall with a circumference of 24 meters, the tower occupies the center of the town's main plaza at its highest point. Originally part of a comprehensive fortification system, this enduring tower represents a significant example of Romanesque military architecture and remains one of the most prominent historical structures in Cruïlles, commanding views over the surrounding countryside and medieval streets below.
