The Castell de Cocentaina is a 13th-14th century medieval fortress positioned at 754 meters elevation on San Cristóbal Hill in Cocentaina, Alicante. Built over remains of earlier Muslim defensive structures, the square two-story tower features an open patio, well, chapel, and warehouse on the lower floor, with upper residential quarters protected by battlement cornice. This excellent example of military Gothic style dominates the regions of l'Alcoià and El Comtat from its strategic position on the Serra de Mariola's eastern slope, offering panoramic views across a vast territory. Though burned and destroyed during the 1303 revolt, the castle was reconstructed and remains an iconic visual landmark in the region.
