Castell de Vilarig in Cistella stands as a hybrid of medieval fortress and Renaissance manor. First documented in 978 as 'villa Redi', the site transformed in the 14th century when a castle was constructed, then significantly rebuilt in the 16th century into an elegant palace. The structure features a rectangular plan with a central courtyard, surrounded by moats and protective walls. Its main façade displays three Renaissance windows, one inscribed with the date 1561 and adorned with the Vilarig family coat of arms. Now a private farmhouse, the building retains its distinctive voussoir portal and serves as a tangible bridge between medieval military architecture and noble residential elegance.
