Torre de Vilanova dos Infantes in Celanova, Ourense, preserves the 19-meter-high keep tower from a 10th-century fortress built by Count Gutierre Menéndez on the ruins of an ancient Castro settlement. Originally belonging to the Celanova monastery before being granted to Juan Rodriguez de Biedma in 1369, the fortress suffered partial destruction during the 1467 Irmandiña revolt but was subsequently reconstructed. The tower is accessed through a semicircular arch from the first floor, presenting an important example of medieval Galician military architecture. Recovered in 2000, it now houses the Regional Center exhibition featuring archaeological and ethnographic displays from the As Terras de Celanova region.
