Castell de Mur stands as one of Catalonia's finest examples of 11th-century Romanesque fortification, located in the Pallars Jussà region of Lleida province. First documented in 969, the castle featured in the reorganization of medieval border defenses between Christian and Muslim territories. Its distinctive architecture includes a concentrated ground plan with rounded angles throughout the walls and a prominent round tower as the central element. Thanks to its exceptional state of preservation and architectural significance, Castell de Mur has become emblematic of the Border Castles of the Catalan counties and is designated a Cultural Asset of National Interest, making it the best-preserved example of its kind in the region.
