Castell de Borriol is a fortress rising from a hilltop north of Borriol in Castellón province, with origins possibly dating to Roman times as a watchtower along the Via Augusta. The castle features Islamic and medieval architecture, having been reconquered in 1233 and granted a town charter by Jaime I in 1250.
