Castillo Nuevo de Bedmar is a 15th-century fortress situated on the rocky Peña Marta outcrop near Bedmar in the Sierra Mágina region of Jaén, Andalusia. Founded in 1411 according to historical documentation, the castle served the Order of Santiago as a defensive stronghold against incursions from the Nazari Kingdom of Granada. After centuries of abandonment, the castle was declared a Cultural Heritage Asset in 1993. The municipality acquired the site in 2017, and archaeological excavations commenced in 2018, revealing new insights into this important frontier fortress that protected Christian territories during the final stages of medieval Spanish history.
