Casa fuerte de los Herrera in Arroyo de la Luz, Cáceres, represents a defensive structure with Almohad origins that was rebuilt following the Reconquista to protect newly conquered Christian territory. Constructed during the 15th century and named in the 16th century when the Herrera family held it, this fortress features an austere rectangular layout built from irregular granite stone blocks and topped with slate, accessed through a distinctive doorway with a pointed arch. After abandonment as a residence in the 16th century, it served as a cemetery before finding new purpose as a venue for cultural events including an annual Horror Film Festival.
