Ruínas Batería de Salgueira is a 20th-century military fortification located in Ares, Galicia, built as part of an artillery defense plan to protect the entrance to the Ría de El Ferrol and the strategic Ferrol naval base. Constructed between 1897 and 1927, the battery featured five large circular cannon bases, equipped with Munáiz-Argüelles guns capable of firing 13,700 meters. Its cannon openings faced the Chanteiro inlet to prevent enemy landings on the nearby beach. Today, only the wells that once housed the cannons remain visible, as the artillery pieces were removed at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War to serve other defensive batteries in the region.
