Torre Fuerte de Anguciana stands as a striking Gothic military tower built in 1397 by Juan Alfonso de Salcedo, to whom King Henry III of Castile granted the lordship of Anguciana in recognition of royal service. Located on Calle Fuente la Torre beside a bridge crossing the Tirón River in La Rioja Alta, this well-preserved fortification exemplifies late medieval defensive architecture with its rectangular plan, loopholes, embrasures, and crenellated battlements. Constructed from finely squared stones arranged with precision, the tower features machicolations and original arrow slits, serving for centuries as the seat of the prominent Salcedo family. The property remains private and not open to public visits, maintaining its original character as a noble family residence and fortress.
