Murallas de Andújar represents one of the largest wall systems ever constructed in Spain, originally spanning 1,750 meters with 48 tower bastions, four octagonal towers, and multiple gates. Built first during the 9th-century era of Abd Allah and then dramatically rebuilt by the Almohads following the devastating 1170 earthquake, these walls protected a completely enclosed medieval city. The Torreón de la Fuente Sorda, a square tower standing 15 meters high, exemplifies their construction quality. Today, fragments remain visible, with the best-preserved sections found on Calle Silera containing three wall sections and two tower bastions, offering testament to Andújar's once-formidable defensive capabilities.
