Castle Ampudia stands as the most impressive and best-preserved fortress in Palencia province, constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries in distinctive Gothic style. The castle features a trapezoidal floor plan fortified by three corner towers and an elegant facade adorned with Flemish architectural details and the coat of arms of the Duke of Lerma, who became owner in the early 17th century. Privately owned since 1960, the castle underwent extensive restoration and remains a cultural monument where significant historical documents, including one concerning the transfer of Spain's capital, were signed.
