Ruinas del castillo de Algarra crowns the highest point of the hillside town of Algarra in Cuenca province, presenting an impressive archaeological complex of medieval fortification. Dating to the 13th-14th century, this mountainous castle features an elongated, irregular floor plan adapted to the rocky terrain, designed tactically to defend a mountain pass and surrounding agricultural lands. The structure preserves a significant section of lime and stone masonry on its northeast side and a semicircular section bordering the hillside. Despite degradation caused by modern construction—a cemetery and water tank have been built over portions of the ruins—the site remains legally protected under Spain's heritage preservation decrees and offers free access to visitors.
