The Castillos de los Marqueses de Valderas in Alcorcón are a pair of remarkable early 20th-century mansions built between 1915 and 1917 in Saxon architectural style. Originally constructed for José Sanchiz de Quesada, the Marquis of Valderas, these palatial residences have hosted Spanish royalty, including King Alfonso XIII in 1920. During the Spanish Civil War, the castles served as military observation points. Today, one castle houses the Municipal Museum of Art in Glass (MAVA) while the other functions as the Municipal Library, preserving their cultural significance within an urban park setting just outside Madrid.
