El Torreón Árabe de Albolote is a commanding cylindrical watchtower rising 9.5 meters from the Sierra Elvira, constructed during the Nasrid period in the 13th century. With a diameter of 5.4 meters and a robust, slightly truncated design, it stands as possibly the largest and best-preserved Arab tower in Granada province, strategically positioned at 855 meters elevation to monitor troop movements across the Vega de Granada and the Cubillas river corridor. Designated a Cultural Asset of Interest under Spanish Heritage Law, this sentinel fortification communicates the sophisticated defensive network that protected medieval Granada's approaches.
