CASTLES AGUILAR DE SEGARRA

Castell de Mirambell stands in the municipality of Calonge de Segarra in Anoia, Catalonia, designated a cultural property of national interest. First documented in 1023, this fortress was constructed around 1039 as a defensive watchtower, strategically positioned to exploit the surrounding topography for maximum defensive capability. Originally featuring a polygonal floor plan with five or six facades, the castle belonged to the Cardona family for centuries, cementing its importance in regional medieval politics. Though damaged by time, the castle's surviving thick stone walls—constructed with stone filler and minimal mortar—testify to robust medieval construction techniques. The site preserves valuable evidence of 11th-century defensive architecture in Catalonia.

Castell de Castellmeià is a historic castle with origins documented in 1044 as castrum Mediani, located in Castellmeià within the municipality of Torrefeta i Florejacs in Catalonia.
