Lynch's Castle is a four-storey tower house positioned on the corner of Shop Street and Abbeygate Street in the heart of Galway City, representing one of Ireland's best-preserved examples of a medieval townhouse. Built in the 16th century by the influential Anglo-Norman Lynch family, who settled in Galway during the 13th century and became prominent merchants and mayors, the castle features limestone façade with elaborate carvings, gargoyles, and ornamental mouldings. The building displays the coats of arms of the Lynch family, King Henry VII, and the Fitzgeralds of Kildare. Now serving as an Allied Irish Bank branch since 1933 restoration, the ground floor remains open to visitors during banking hours to explore its historical significance.
