Château de Villersexel is a magnificent neo-Louis XIII edifice built between 1882 and 1887 in Haute-Saône, replacing a former castle destroyed during the 1871 Battle of Villersexel. Designed by architect Eugène Danjoy, the château showcases a harmonious blend of architectural styles featuring brick and stone construction with neo-classical elements, neo-gothic dining room decorations, and English architectural references. The grand interior retains its original furnishings, including Gobelins tapestries and a 10,000-volume library. The property is surrounded by 30 hectares of English-style parkland with scenic views over the river and includes historic outbuildings such as a farm and orangery. Now a private residence housing a museum and reception halls, it has been recognized as the most beautiful château of the 19th century and is protected as a historic monument.
