Musée Rosa Bonheur, housed in the historic Château de By, is a museum dedicated to the renowned 19th-century animal painter Rosa Bonheur, located on the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest near Thomery in Seine-et-Marne. Purchased by Bonheur in 1859 at the height of her artistic success, the property served as her home and studio for forty years, featuring pens for her live animal models. The museum preserves the artist's studio in its original state without modern staging, surrounded by over three hectares of parkland. Reopened in 2018 following renovation, the estate now offers tea rooms, boutique, guest rooms, and cultural programs, providing visitors an intimate glimpse into the working life of a celebrated artist.
