Château de Sassenage is a masterpiece of 17th-century classical architecture built between 1662 and 1669, representing the final residence of the Bérenger-Sassenage family at the gates of Grenoble and the Vercors. The castle retains period furniture from the art-de-vivre traditions of the 17th and 18th centuries, including works by renowned cabinetmakers, with notable spaces encompassing a 17th-century kitchen, ceremonial rooms, and private apartments. The eight-hectare landscaped park, redesigned in 1780 in English romantic style, is open to the public free of charge, creating an idyllic setting for walks and exploration.
