The property was acquired by the Mauriac family in 1843 and inherited by François Mauriac in 1927, becoming his cherished family residence. Given to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in 1985, the domaine now serves as the François-Mauriac Center, a dedicated cultural venue celebrating Mauriac's literary legacy. Set amid vineyards and designed gardens, the estate offers guided tours of the house, literary walks, and park discovery experiences.
