Château Royal de Cazeneuve is a medieval fortress in Préchac, Gironde, renowned as a former royal residence of Henry IV and Queen Margot. Built along the gorges of the River Ciron, the castle was transformed from a fortified medieval stronghold into a pleasure palace during the 17th century. The ducal family of de Sabran-Pontevès still inhabits the castle, which remains completely furnished with original period pieces. The château features large royal apartments, a medieval underground cellar, troglodyte caves, and a 40-hectare listed historical park. Open to visitors from Easter through November, the castle offers guided tours of its courtyard, furnished rooms, riverside walkway, and historic kitchen, providing an intimate glimpse into aristocratic life across centuries.
