Château de Portets stands on the site of an ancient fortress in the Graves appellation, occupying a significant place in the barony of Portets from the 12th to 16th centuries. The château's remarkable Renaissance architecture features a stone terrace overlooking the vineyard and the Garonne River, earning classification as a Historic Monument and recognition as Best of Wine Tourism 2024. Located twenty-five kilometers south of Bordeaux, the thirty-hectare estate produces red wines from fifty-five percent Merlot and forty-five percent Cabernet Sauvignon, and white wines from Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. Napoleon and Josephine famously stopped at the château in 1808.
