Château de Tournelay was constructed in Louis XIII style between 1839 and 1859 in Nueil-les-Aubiers, though archival records mention an earlier château on the site dating to 1278. Built of brick and tuffeau stone with granite foundation, the château features a complex plan with multiple pavilions under independent roofing. The 35-hectare park encompasses meadows, ponds, and mature trees, expanded in 1820 and now serving as a biodiversity sanctuary. The estate preserves all original outbuildings—vegetable garden, woodshed, greenhouse, windmill, and water tower—creating an intact image of a self-sufficient rural manorial property. Though inhabited as a private residence today, the grounds and outbuildings remain accessible for exploration.
