Château de Morsang in Morsang-sur-Orge originated as a 16th-century manor and was substantially rebuilt starting in 1740 for Pierre Durey d'Harnoncourt, one of France's wealthiest tax farmers. This 17th- and 18th-century château features protected facades with mansard-roofed pavilions, a grand iron-forged staircase, and elegant reception rooms surrounding a central courtyard. Now classified as a historical monument since 1979 and fully protected since 2025, the château currently houses a municipal media library, music conservatory, and artistic workshops, serving as a vibrant cultural hub accessible via the nearby T12 tramway station.
