The Château de Madame du Barry is an 18th-century estate in Louveciennes, originally constructed in 1683 as a Water Pavilion for an engineer of the Marly machine. In 1769, King Louis XV presented the property to his favorite, Madame du Barry, who commissioned significant expansions including an eastern wing and the celebrated Pavillon de Musique designed by Claude Nicolas Ledoux. The countess also added an orangerie, glasshouse, Doric temple, and ice house. The château exemplifies 18th-century French elegance with exceptional carved woodwork and period architecture. Designated a Historic Monument in 1994, the estate remains an important testament to the splendor of Louis XV's reign.
