Château de Lourmarin is an imposing Renaissance castle in the Vaucluse département of Provence, widely recognized as the first Renaissance castle built in the region, with its 15th-century foundation by Foulques d'Agoult replacing an earlier medieval fortress from the 12th century. Rescued from abandonment in 1920 by industrialist Robert Laurent-Vibert, the castle was meticulously restored and designated a historic monument in 1973. Today functioning as a major cultural center and home to the Robert Laurent-Vibert Foundation, it hosts exhibitions, artistic events, and spectacles throughout the year, serving as the "Villa Médicis of Provence."
