CASTLES GRADIGNAN

Château de L'Ermitage is a historic estate in Gradignan with roots tracing back to its ownership by the Augustinian congregation before the French Revolution. Following the Revolution, the property was reconstructed and subsequently enlarged and renovated by merchant Maxime Lévy from 1865. Originally serving as the town hall from 1945 to 1986, it has been beautifully restored and now serves as a venue for wedding celebrations. The City of Gradignan has transformed the château into a hub dedicated to economy and employment initiatives. Its vast park remains open to the public, offering residents and visitors access to green space and historical heritage within the community.

Château de Tauzia, often known as Château de Campagne, is a historic monument classified since 1965 and designed by Victor Louis, the renowned architect of Bordeaux's Grand Theatre, in the late 18th century. Located in Gradignan, this elegantly restored property features a 20-hectare English-style park showcasing notable collections of azaleas and camellias alongside century-old trees including sequoias and Atlas cedars. The château grounds include a historic greenhouse, vegetable garden, and shaded pathways through varied groves. An annual spring garden festival celebrates plants, biodiversity, and garden design, attracting gardeners throughout the region and reinforcing its status as an important horticultural and cultural destination.
