The Donjon de Septmonts, situated near Soissons in the Aisne region, is a 14th-century keep and former episcopal residence that once hosted illustrious guests including Saint Louis and King Louis XIV. The complex features a 13th-century Saint-Louis hall, a square tower, a 16th-century Renaissance pavilion, and a 15th-century church with an ornate rood beam, set within wooded grounds developed as an arboretum. Rescued from abandonment by the Friends of Septmonts association in 1971, the site now offers free public access to its park and monuments seasonally, with guided group tours available and virtual tours of the keep and church, preserving centuries of historical significance.
