Château de Magnat rises in Magnat-l'Étrange in Creuse's picturesque landscape, representing centuries of medieval military and domestic evolution. The main castle comprises a rectangular building with two square wing towers, complemented by a Renaissance staircase tower on the opposite façade. Originally constructed in the 12th century and significantly enlarged in the 17th century, the fortress underwent renovation campaigns through the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. After its interior walls collapsed in 1965, a dedicated association launched restoration efforts in 2012, working with volunteers to preserve this historic structure. Today the château stands as testament to collective conservation efforts, registered as a historical monument and gradually restored to its former grandeur.
