CASTLES COUSSAC-BONNEVAL

Château de Bonneval is a historic noble residence belonging to the Marquis de Bonneval family, one of France's oldest lineages, and has stood for nearly a thousand years in Haute-Vienne. Unusually for French castles, it remains fully inhabited, furnished with original period pieces, and welcomes visitors. The estate offers guided tours through historically furnished interiors, children's workshops where young guests can dress as knights or princesses, and concerts ranging from jazz to Neapolitan baroque music throughout the year. Overnight lodging options include a modern gîte with private terrace and jacuzzi, as well as historic guest bedrooms featuring period furniture, allowing visitors to experience life within this family's centuries-old heritage.

Domaine de Chaufaille encompasses 194 hectares of forest and countryside in Coussac-Bonneval, Haute-Vienne, centered on a château constructed in 1870 by Count Auguste de Chérade de Montbron. Built on the former domain of the Burguet de Chauffaille family, whose earliest structures date to the 17th century, the estate remained in the Chérade de Montbron family until 1974. The property comprises 16 buildings including stables, a saddle room, a chapel from 1847, two farm residences, two ponds, and a caretaker's house. Originally converted for military use following state acquisition, the domain was later purchased by the local communauté de communes in 2010, positioning it for heritage preservation and public engagement.
