Hardelot Castle stands in a commanding position near Condette in Pas-de-Calais, with roots extending to the 12th century when the Counts of Boulogne established the original fortress. Count Philippe Hurepel rebuilt the castle in 1222, and though Cardinal Richelieu had it dismantled in the 17th century, a pseudo-Gothic mansion rose in 1848. Today the castle houses the Cultural Center of the Entente Cordiale, showcasing Franco-British relations and a museum dedicated to aviator Louis Blériot. The estate encompasses 11 hectares of magnificent gardens and features an Elizabethan Theatre, a replica of London's Globe Theatre celebrating Shakespeare's era.
