Castle Marbeaumont in Bar-le-Duc is an early 20th-century residential château built between 1903 and 1905 for the Varin-Bernier banking family. This striking example of architectural eclecticism blends Renaissance, Art Nouveau, and other historic styles across its exterior and richly decorated interiors, featuring ornate rooms with mosaic floors inspired by antiquity and a Renaissance dining hall with a carved wood fireplace. Since 1996, the château has housed the Jean Jeukels media library, preserving a heritage collection of 65,000 rare books, including 500 Renaissance prints and local manuscripts, making it a significant cultural landmark in the Meuse region.
