Château de Villette is a seigneurial stronghold located in Glaire, in the Ardennes region, situated west of Sedan on the banks of the Meuse River. Originally erected in 1399 and destroyed during the 1552 sacking by Martin van Rossum's forces, it was reconstructed from 1586 by the De Warigny-D'Aguisy family. The Renaissance defense castle was gradually transformed into a pleasure residence with French gardens over subsequent centuries. Cardinal Mazarin stayed here in 1651 during the Fronde, and the property later passed through notable ownership including the Duchy of Rethel. The château and its grounds are listed in the supplementary inventory of French Historic Monuments, with guided visits available by appointment during specific summer and early autumn periods.
