Château des Bories, a fortified house with Renaissance features, was built between 1494 and 1604 in Antonne-et-Trigonant, Dordogne. Commissioned by Jeanne de Hautefort and completed under Henri de Saint-Astier, the château comprises a rectangular main house flanked by two round towers and a square tower, all surrounded by a moat fed by the Isle River. Its Gothic kitchen and monumental square-plan Renaissance staircase exemplify period craftsmanship. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1974, it survives as a testament to religious conflict, having been besieged by Catholics during the Wars of Religion and again during the Fronde in 1652.
