Château de Bagatelle is an exquisite 18th-century folly constructed in 1752 by Abraham van Robais, a wealthy textile industrialist, in Abbeville, Somme. Designed as an elegant pleasure pavilion in the Baroque style with a brick-and-stone façade, the château is attributed to either Ange-Jacques Gabriel or Jacques-François Blondel. The interior preserves original Louis XV and Louis XVI period woodwork, marquetry floors, and furniture exemplifying French decorative arts mastery. The estate encompasses a 12-hectare park featuring formal French gardens complemented by English-style landscape design with remarkable specimen trees. Protected as a Historical Monument since 1926, the château represents an outstanding example of aristocratic country elegance.
