Miiduranna Coastal Battery, situated on the eastern shore of Tallinn Bay approximately eight kilometers northeast of Tallinn's center, was constructed in 1915 as part of Peter the Great's naval fortress defense network. Built according to 1913 strategic plans, the fortification mounted four 130-millimeter guns with comprehensive shelter and command post facilities for coastal defense operations. The battery played a crucial defensive role during multiple conflicts—it was partially destroyed in 1918 by explosion, restored and reactivated in 1922, then severely damaged again in 1941 by German forces. Today, the abandoned fortification stands as a historical relic on the Viimsi peninsula, preserving remnants of Estonia's early 20th-century military architecture and the region's turbulent wartime history.
