Mola Molencentrum, located in Puyenburg Castle in Wachtebeke, is East Flanders' provincial museum dedicated to wind and water mills. Founded in 1976 to preserve regional milling heritage, the center features interactive exhibitions exploring mills as forerunners of machinery, with particular emphasis on the stake mill—a 12th-century Flemish wooden windmill innovation. Visitors can explore permanent collections, participate in educational workshops, and learn how water and wind served as inexhaustible energy sources in agricultural and industrial development. Currently undergoing renovation until March 2026, the facility continues its mission of cultural preservation.
