Kasteel Borrekens in Vorselaar is a historic water castle built around 1270 by the Van Rotselaar family, stewards of the Dukes of Brabant, constructed from distinctive white Vilvoorde sandstone in a strategic forest location. The castle was partly rebuilt in the late 17th century and received its current neo-Gothic style in the 19th century, while remaining surrounded by a protective moat and fortified towers at the entrance. Though privately owned and not open to the public, the surrounding grounds and forested areas with the moat remain accessible for visitors to explore. Manicured gardens provide an idyllic setting for leisurely walks and peaceful picnics.
