Montquintin Castle, also known as Château de Hontheim, perches on a ridge overlooking the Ton valley in Rouvroy, near the French border in Belgium's Ardennes region. Originating in the 14th century when erected by the Counts of Chiny, the castle originally featured a square design with circular towers positioned at each corner. Today the site remains as evocative ruins freely accessible to visitors, preserving atmospheric remnants including a vaulted cellar and ancient bread oven within its crumbling walls. Protected since 1972 as an exceptional heritage property of Wallonia, Montquintin undergoes ongoing archaeological excavations and consolidation efforts to stabilize this feudal fortress, maintaining its historical significance and commanding position overlooking the rural Luxembourg landscape.
