Castle Binderveld is a moated fortress with medieval origins dating to 1135, located in Nieuwerkerken, Limburg. The castle endured multiple cycles of destruction and restoration throughout its history, including damage by State troops in 1637 and a devastating fire in 1728, with the current structure rebuilt in 1729. Today, only the gate tower and residential wing remain preserved on the site; a 1865 reconstruction replaced the original drawbridge with a fixed stone structure, while a new chapel dating to 1842 adjoins the grounds. The castle grounds are now popular for recreational hiking and walking trails, allowing visitors to explore this historically significant rural fortification amid the Limburgian countryside.
