Kasteel Reesinghe in Maldegem is a striking neogothic manor house completed in 1858 by architect Eugène Carpentier, designed to evoke a hunting pavilion. Situated at Brugse Steenweg 181, the brick structure was built on the historical site of the medieval lordly castle of Maldegem, whose lordship passed through several families including the Houses of Halewijn and Croÿ until the 19th century. The protected estate encompasses the castle, moat, bridges, chapel, ice cellar, carriage house, and 18 hectares of surrounding woodland and gardens. In 2024, conservation efforts expanded an additional 18 hectares of forestland to agricultural status, securing this important cultural landscape for future generations.
