Kasteel de Maurissens is an eclectic brick and sandstone castle in Pellenberg, Lubbeek, representing a small-scale country estate. The site's history extends to the 15th century as Hof te Laar; in 1859 a neoclassical castle was constructed. Destroyed by German occupiers in 1914, architect Guillaume Chrétien Veraart redesigned the castle in 1916, incorporating Louis XV style elements and eclectic details. The estate remained in the Maurissens family until 1945, when it was purchased by KU Leuven, transforming the castle into an educational and cultural facility. The grounds encompass a landscaped park characteristic of 19th-century aesthetic ideals. Today it functions as part of the university's campus facilities and serves as the home of Pellenberg municipal elementary school.
