Castle of l'Estriverie in Bois-de-Lessines traces its origins to 1324 when the Counts of Hainaut declared the estate a fief. Medieval lineage passed through the Despretz de Quivrains and Cottrels, whose members rebuilt the fortified dwelling in 1454 and throughout the 16th–17th centuries, transforming it into a graceful château. The castle presents a distinctive L-shaped plan with two round corner towers and a U-shaped bailey, constructed of imposing brick with gray roof and white-trimmed windows. A wide moat surrounds the entire structure, preserving the medieval defensive character beneath refined Renaissance and Classical styling. Today the private residence remains visible from an adjacent roadway, standing as a testament to Hainaut's feudal heritage and the architectural traditions of the Cottrel family's seven-generation stewardship.
