Kasteel Ter Balk in Kampenhout represents a unique architectural transformation in Belgian heritage. Originally the site of the Balktemolen, a 17th–18th-century grain mill with four wings surrounding a courtyard, the complex was reimagined and given castle-like appearance in 1912 using materials salvaged from other buildings. Following restorations around 1920 and again in 1968–1969 in neotraditionalist style, it stands as an intriguing example of how a historic farmstead was creatively repurposed and reinvented as a castle in the early 20th century, blending industrial heritage with architectural fantasy.
