Kasteel Hemsrode stands on an estate that was the seat of the lordship bearing the same name, commanding the most significant power in Anzegem from the 13th century through the ancien régime. Rebuilt in 1660 by Nicolaas du Jardin following the original's deterioration, the castle occupied a wooded and undulating landscape in West Flanders. Today the Kasteeldomein Hemsrode is recognized internationally as the venue for annual equestrian cross-country events held each September, preserving its role as a center of regional significance.
