Burgruine Windhaag is a medieval castle ruin located in Windhaag bei Perg in Upper Austria's Mühlviertel region. First documented in 1290 under the ownership of Freitel von Windhaag, the castle originated as a small Gothic defensive structure surrounded by a moat with a central keep. The structure remained in the Windhaag family until 1379 and underwent ownership changes through later centuries. A section collapsed in 1734, beginning its transition to ruins. Since 1990, when the municipality acquired the grounds, restoration efforts have made the ruins accessible to visitors, who can enjoy panoramic views of the Alps, the Machland region, and the surrounding countryside from viewing platforms within the restored site.
