Schloss Kogl, erected in 1750 by the princely Khevenhüller family, stands as an 18th-century stately home nestled in Salzkammergut's enchanting landscape of lakes and alpine ranges northeast of Salzburg. The castle changed hands from its noble founders to Dr. Pausinger and later to the Mayr-Melnhof family in 1872, who received it as a wedding gift. Baron Mayr-Melnhof's daughter, Countess Kottulinsky, received the castle as a wedding present in 1884, beginning a family legacy now spanning four to six generations. Distinguished artists have left their mark: the renowned painter son of Dr. Pausinger created celebrated allegorical frescoes in the hall and hunting scenes in the elegant dining room. Today, the stone-built castle functions as both a private residence and an event location, hosting film productions and business gatherings while preserving its hunting heritage and European aristocratic charm.
